Drawing Evaluation.

Over this past term I have really begun to explore materials more and develop my own personal style. I have found my more successfull work stems from using a range of different media, such as inks, pencil crayons, pencils, and paints, to create a layered, textured style which still shows the bones of the drawing in certain areas. I now aim to experiment more with different sizes of paper, and continue trying different media.

Ravens.

Some Ravens, seen as a symbol of death,
following on from bird skins.

Bird Skins and Moths.

Death fascinates me, never more so than when it is studied.
Museum archives are like sweet shops for me,
so much to look at,too much choice when finding inspiration!
For my latest project I focused on Ornithology, and Lepidoptery.

The Bird skins in particular caught my eye. Rows and rows of empty shells, bound, tagged and hidden away in drawers, with slight variations in size, colouring, and characteristics.

Some life drawing work..

Experimenting with line, colour,
 and layering materials.

Long pose. Pencil, Ink, Charcoal,
Paint.

Thoroughly modern metal.

A few examples from my first forray into metal,
focusing on findings, soldering and finishes such
as copper oxide and gold leafing.
  All oxidised copper.
